The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Control Engineer to join our Control Systems Team. The successful candidate will design control & automation systems for a range of Royal IHC products in the Offshore Energy sector; ensuring solutions meet clients’ needs in a professional and timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Write specifications, develop PLC code and HMI/SCADA solutions for Royal IHC equipment.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase of projects, including involvement in commissioning and testing of equipment.
- Efficient management and prioritisation of workload.
- Take ownership of tasks assigned through to successful delivery within the specified time and budget.
- Deliver a high standard of work in line with software quality control procedures.
Job requirements
- Excellent technical knowledge of control, automation and safety systems
- Appropriate computer/engineering related qualification (degree/HND) or comparable industrial experience
- Design of control and automation systems
- Programming of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems
- Commissioning and testing of industrial control systems
- Involvement throughout the whole project lifecycle, from design through coding to testing, installation and documentation
- Experience working for clients in the marine, subsea, oil & gas and renewables markets
- Recent experience in a similar role in a bespoke engineering environment
- Role requires a mix of working from Royal IHC Ltd Grey Street office, Port of Blyth production facility and other client sites/vessels around the world
- Experience of working to ISO 9001 or equivalent in a project-based organisation
- A high level of competence with IT systems and tools
Desirable Skills / Attributes
- Experience of Siemens TIA Portal / Unified (preferred)
- Experience with Rockwell or Mitsubishi platforms
- Experience configuring and commissioning Variable Speed Drives (Siemens, Nidec and ABB)
- Previous experience within the Marine / Offshore / Subsea environment
- Knowledge and experience of relevant functional safety standards (IEC 61508, IEC 61511, IEC 13849)
