About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Sheffield, starting in June 2026 and continuing through into the new academic year of September 2026 (Applicants will also be considered for a September 2026 start). This is a full-time, long-term supply position.
The school is known for its supportive and inclusive environment, with a strong focus on maintaining high academic standards while fostering positive relationships between staff and students. The successful candidate will join a collaborative Science department that values engaging teaching, effective curriculum delivery, and helping students reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress, using assessment data to inform teaching and support student development.
- Maintain a purposeful, positive and well-managed classroom environment that promotes effective learning.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Science department to support the delivery of a high-quality curriculum.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, supporting its ethos, policies and expectations where required.
Pre-requisites
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
- Demonstrable experience teaching Science at secondary level.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Science curriculum.
- Two professional references from education or school-based settings.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
