Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior Transport Planner based in London or Surrey, with flexibility to work from home part of the week. The Senior Transport Planner will lead and deliver transport assessments, transport statements, travel plans, and feasibility studies for a range of development projects across the UK. Responsibilities include managing and undertaking transport modelling, contributing to highway design input, and coordinating with drainage and flood risk specialists to support integrated infrastructure solutions. The role involves preparing clear technical reports, presenting findings to clients and stakeholders, and providing expert input at meetings, consultations, and, where required, public inquiries. The Senior Transport Planner will mentor junior team members, support project management activities, contribute to bids and proposals, and maintain strong client relationships to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of work.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Transportation Planning experience, with experience delivering assessments, statements, and travel plans for development projects.
- Proficiency in Transport Modelling and related analytical tools, with the ability to interpret data and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Excellent Communication skills, including clear technical writing, presentation of complex information to non-specialists, and effective stakeholder engagement.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related discipline; professional accreditation (e.g., CIHT, TPS, ICE, or working toward it) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in UK transport policy, design standards, and development planning processes, including liaison with local authorities and other public bodies.
- Competence with relevant software (e.g., junction and network modelling, GIS, MS Office) and an analytical, detail-focused approach.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, with strong organizational skills and a commitment to high-quality, inclusive, and ethical practice.
