SEN Cover Supervisor – Coventry

About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a reliable and confident Cover Supervisor to work in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) college in Coventry. This supply-based role is due to start in September 2026 and is expected to run for the full academic year.

The college supports young people aged 16 to 25 with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASD), moderate learning difficulties (MLD), speech and language challenges, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The setting prioritises independence, life skills, and a positive learning environment that promotes individual growth and well‑being.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver pre-set work and manage the classroom during teacher absences.
• Maintain a calm and purposeful classroom environment, using de‑escalation techniques when needed.
• Support students with learning, communication, and emotional regulation throughout the day.
• Work closely with teaching staff, learning support assistants, and pastoral teams to ensure consistency and care.
• Promote positive behaviour and independence in line with college values and expectations.

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with young people, ideally in a SEN or educational setting.
• Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills.
• Resilience, flexibility, and a supportive approach to working with young adults with additional needs.
• Two relevant professional references from an education or care environment.
