Warehouse Group Leader – Runcorn Site
Howdens is looking for a Warehouse Group Leader to join our Runcorn Site in Cheshire. As a FTSE100 business undergoing an exciting period of growth and transformation, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role within our warehouse operation. Reporting to the Shift Manager, you will lead and motivate a team of operatives to achieve business goals while promoting a strong safety culture and high‑performance working environment.
Working Conditions
- Location: Runcorn
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Shifts: Morning Shift (Mon–Fri, 06:00–14:00), Afternoon Shift (Mon–Fri, 14:00–22:00), Night Shift (Sun–Thu, 22:00–06:00). Please indicate your preferred shift when applying.
Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop the team, providing exceptional first‑line management.
- Monitor, evaluate, and give feedback on the performance of team members on a daily/weekly basis.
- Oversee receipt, storage, picking and loading processes in line with daily targets to ensure correct operating procedures and processes are followed.
- Identify and report all operational problems and suggest solutions or changes.
- Develop and mentor Group Leader stand‑ins to ensure Howdens has a fully enabled, supported and multi‑skilled workforce.
- Plan and organise adequate resources to ensure effective operation such as daily rosters and holiday planning.
- Ensure all aspects of health and safety are followed across site.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in a warehouse leadership role.
- CIEH Level 3 Health and Safety qualification (desirable).
- NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing (desirable).
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems and Labour Management Systems.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
