TELEHANDLER OPERATOR
Main Duties
Loading & Unloading – pallets, bricks, blocks, steel, timber from lorries
Lifting to height – place materials onto scaffolding, roofs, upper floorsAttachments – swap between forks, bucket, jib, man cage, hook, grab
Site Movement – move materials around site, keep yards tidy
Checks & Paperwork – daily walkaround checks, defects, refueling, LOLER paperwork for lifting ops
HSE – follow lift plans, maintain exclusion zones, radio comms with slingers/banksmen
Key Skills Needed
Precision: placing loads to within inches, often at height
Site awareness: overhead cables, people, uneven ground
Read load charts: know what the machine can lift at what reach/heightAttachment changes + basic maintenance
Good communication with ground staff.
