Are you a Mechanical Project Engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real impact? Join Galliford Try’s Environment Business and help deliver essential water infrastructure projects across the South East. You’ll be the engineer in charge covering smaller clean and wastewater projects within the water industry. Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll collaborate with a skilled team to ensure design, procurement, financial control, and site activities are delivered to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering from concept through to completion using in‑house resources and site teams.
- Deliver Non‑Infra M&E projects within the water sector.
- Oversee design management and liaise with clients and internal teams.
- Conduct early site investigations and coordinate with stakeholders.
- Prepare and review health & safety documentation (RAMS, project plans).
- Procure materials and manage supplier/subcontractor relationships.
- Attend and oversee factory/site testing, commissioning, and client training.
- Participate in design reviews and hazard studies to develop optimal solutions.
- Monitor budgets and assist with cost reviews and variation claims.
- Ensure quality and compliance through inspection and test plans.
- Drive innovation while maintaining adherence to standards.
- Prepare and manage project programmes and documentation (as‑built drawings, O&M manuals).

Essential Qualifications and Certifications
- Industry applicable mechanical ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent.
- Full UK driving licence.
