Responsibilities
- Undertake the operational engineering of all project activities, assisting with planning and resourcing of direct and subcontract labour, ensuring that all aspects of health and safety are adhered to.
- Produce and review RAMS & SSOW documents.
- Review design documents.
- Produce bill of quantities and select and procure equipment and materials and arrange delivery to site.
- Supervise and/or periodically visit site-based staff and site activities to ensure correct work, progression to timelines and serve as point of contact for engineering queries.
- Work with staff and clients to ensure works are completed on time and to specifications and standards.
- Arrange delivery of project construction activities on HV & LV Electrical Distribution networks, including review and agreeing outage requirements with the client, planning resources and ensuring all RAMS and SSOW documents are prepared ahead.
- Engineer the delivery of project activities on HV & LV electrical distribution networks, including but not limited to LV/HV electrical distribution assets, containment, HV cable installation, minor civil works, switchgear/transformer refurbishments, HV cable fault rectifications etc., including review and agreeing outage requirements with the client, planning resources and ensuring all RAMS and SSOW documents are prepared ahead.
- Respond to client emergency call outs with the on‑call team, ensuring quick response times to minimise client power down time, and manage and communicate technical requirements and costs with the Project Manager and client site engineers, ensuring positive client, internal and third‑party expectations are met.
- Proactively generate leads and opportunities for expanding the service provision of Ipsum Power (Private Networks) Ltd.
- React to other leads from existing customers or in‑house.
- Upsell HV/LV services to existing customers.
- Produce RAMS and SSoW documentation, ensuring job packs are produced to a high standard to enable site activities to commence timely and with no delays.
- Review design documentation and produce bill of quantities and arrange procurement of plant, materials and equipment.
- Undertake site visits to ensure ongoing works are advancing in alignment with schedules/programmes, ensuring Ipsum and client satisfaction and any risks identified and mitigated.
- Communicate with Project Managers, Planners, Site Teams and clients as required to assist in delivery of new and ongoing works.
- Liaise with Planning Team for labour requirements when required for project work.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
- HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience operating in a commercial, multi‑divisional organisation.
- Detailed understanding of current HV/LV electrical installation techniques.
- Good knowledge of HV & LV switchgear, transformers and power assets in electrical distribution networks.
- Solid and up‑to‑date knowledge of statutory requirements, legislation and technical advances.
- Good knowledge of health and safety practice and risk assessment.
- Previous experience working in the high voltage industry.
