Process/Product Engineer
Seeking a Process/Product Engineer to provide a diversified range of technical services supporting the attainment of Company, Team, and Division goals. Experience in a lean manufacturing environment is strongly preferred. Commitment to following and promoting zero-accident safety culture required.
This position is primarily responsible for identifying and implementing manufacturing process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and implementing statistical process control techniques with associated measurement and control systems. Candidate will work with all levels in the organization to provide analysis and guidance on business-critical processes. In addition, candidate will support the Product Engineering Team in the development and design of forging and other manufacturing operations using FEA modeling to meet customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Support product/process continuous improvement initiatives. Apply statistical data analysis, six-sigma methodologies, and design of experiments as required to support initiatives.
- Support and lead cost saving projects and initiatives
- Collaborate with Operations personnel to improve manufacturing processes and standards that enhance safety and product quality.
- Assist and develop training materials as needed.
- Participate in team-based, cross-functional activities including PFMEA, risk assessments, problem solving activities (8-D, 5-Why, cause/effect diagrams) and process audits
- Perform product and tooling design using FEA modeling for forging and heat-treatment.
- Ensuring that the requirements of the Quality Systems Manual are fully incorporated in area of responsibility.
- Provide technical support for all departments as deemed necessary.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Mechanical Engineering required
- 1-3 years of experience working in an Engineering capacity (experience in manufacturing strongly preferred)
- Classical drawing interpretation / GD&T knowledge, Unigraphics CAD experience preferred.
- Understanding/application of statistics and six sigma practices
- Six Sigma black belt preferred
- Able to drive change in demanding atmosphere
SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Strong technical background
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously or as a team member.
