Role Details

Senior Procurement Specialist – Permanent, Full Time

Location: Peterborough (Hybrid: 2 to 3 days in office + London attendance as required)

Salary: Up to £62,000 + exceptional benefits

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of procurement projects within a major infrastructure programme, ensuring they’re delivered on time, compliant, and delivering real value.
  • Run supplier selection, tendering, and commercial negotiations in line with the Procurement Act 2023 and internal governance.
  • Build strong market and category insight to shape effective procurement strategies that meet programme needs now and in the future.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and the Commercial team to manage risk, control costs, and keep projects on track.
  • Provide clear, accurate data and reporting to support decision‑making and improve programme visibility.
  • Support post‑award contract management, highlight improvement opportunities, and help with supplier transitions where needed.
  • Mentor colleagues and share best practice to help strengthen procurement capability across the programme.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong track record of delivering procurement strategies within major infrastructure, construction, or capital delivery environments.
  • Solid understanding of the Procurement Act 2023 (or PCR2015/UCR2016) and wider procurement legislation.
  • 5+ years’ experience in procurement or commercial roles, with strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking.
  • Hands‑on experience working with NEC4‑based procurement and commercial frameworks.
  • Confident managing multiple complex projects with strong planning and project management skills.
  • Excellent communicator who can influence senior stakeholders and lead effective negotiations.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft 365 to support analysis, reporting, and decision‑making.
  • CIPS Level 5 (MCIPS preferred) or a relevant degree in procurement, supply chain, or commercial studies.
  • Experience in the Utilities or regulated sector is an advantage.
