Engineering Project Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a highly organized and proactive Program Manager to oversee the successful delivery of multiple projects simultaneously. In this role, you will act as the central point of coordination, ensuring that timelines are met, resources are optimized, risks are managed, and deliverables are completed on time. You will work closely with engineering, product, and cross-functional teams to drive execution across a portfolio of projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead Program Governance: Organize and facilitate regular program and project meetings, including status updates, steering committees, and cross-team syncs.
• Action Tracking & Follow-up: Capture meeting outcomes, track all action items, and proactively chase team members to ensure timely closure of deliverables.
• Milestone Planning & Tracking: Develop and maintain detailed milestone plans, timelines, and roadmaps across multiple concurrent projects.
• Resource Planning: Manage resource allocation, including engineering hours, team capacity, and workload balancing to prevent bottlenecks.
• Engineering Hours Management: Track and forecast engineering effort, monitor actuals vs. planned hours, and ensure efficient utilization of technical resources.
• Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identify potential risks early, conduct regular risk assessments, maintain risk registers, and work with stakeholders to define and implement mitigation strategies.
• Cross-Project Coordination: Manage dependencies between projects, align priorities, and ensure consistent execution standards across the entire program portfolio.
• Status Reporting: Prepare clear and concise status reports, dashboards, and executive updates on progress, risks, and blockers.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify process gaps and contribute to improving program management practices, tools, and templates.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong experience in milestone planning, resource planning, and effort tracking (especially engineering hours).
• Excellent meeting facilitation and action-tracking skills with a reputation for rigorous follow-up.
• Solid understanding of risk management methodologies and experience maintaining risk registers.
• Ability to chase deliverables effectively while maintaining positive team relationships.
• Experience working with engineering and technical teams is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with program management tools such as Jira, Asana, Monday.com, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage detailed data (timelines, resources, budgets).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to influence without direct authority.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
