The Role

We’re currently working with a specialist manufacturer of advanced metallic materials and engineered alloys used in high-performance industrial applications. This is a Metallurgy & Process Specialist role focused on optimising metallurgical production processes, supporting materials performance, and driving continuous improvement across a technically complex manufacturing environment.

They are seeking someone with a strong grounding in metals, materials science, or process metallurgy to support day-to-day production activities while also contributing to process development, quality improvement, and yield optimisation initiatives.

This is a hands‑on, technically varied position bridging production support, materials understanding, and process engineering within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the manufacture and processing of advanced metallic materials and engineered alloys
  • Monitor and optimise metallurgical processes to improve yield, consistency, and product quality
  • Investigate material behaviour, process deviations, and non‑conformances using structured root cause analysis
  • Support melting, casting, forming, heat treatment, and finishing operations (where applicable)
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across production and materials processes
  • Assist with introduction of new alloys, products, and process routes into manufacturing
  • Analyse production and materials data to identify trends, variation, and improvement opportunities
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, including material specifications and process parameters
  • Support trials, process validation, and development work for new and existing products
  • Work closely with Quality, Production, and Technical teams to meet customer and specification requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all quality, health, safety, and environmental standards

About You

  • Degree qualified in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience in metals manufacturing, advanced materials, foundry, forging, heat treatment, or similar process environments
  • Strong understanding of metallic materials, microstructures, and manufacturing behaviour
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving and root cause investigation skills
  • Experience of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies (desirable)
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally

Why Apply?

  • Join a specialist manufacturer working with advanced metallic materials and engineered alloys
  • Work on technically complex processes with real metallurgical depth
  • Play a key role in improving material performance, process capability, and operational efficiency
  • Excellent opportunity for development within a highly technical manufacturing environment
  • Strong scope for progression in a growing, innovation‑driven business
