All of our substantive Consultant vacancies attract a ‘New Starter’ package of £15,000 spread over 3 years as a recruitment bonus.

All new starters receive up to £12,000 relocation package.

CPD is being paid at the higher level of £2000 per annum with the facility accumulating annual funding for up to three years to accommodate accessing higher cost development opportunities.

‘Holiday of a lifetime scheme’: Consultants and Specialty Doctors can bank/accrue annual leave over a period of up to 5 years, to facilitate an extended period of leave. The scheme enables the opportunity for planning a ‘holiday of a lifetime’ or extended paid break.

Recruitment

The Trust is looking to recruit a part‑time Consultant either a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist or a Consultant Paediatrician to join our CAIST team. A large part of the work involves liaising and working alongside colleagues in the local acute Trusts including Paediatricians and other medical Consultants.

Main duties of the job

This post relates to the Children’s Assessment and Intensive Support Team (CAIST) who provide urgent assessments for service users under 18 years old presenting in crisis across Norfolk, including within the 3 acute Trusts in Norfolk and Waveney (The James Paget University Trust, The Norfolk & Norwich University Trust and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital). The role also includes brief intensive support to service users that need it.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Entry on the GMC Register
  • Approved clinician status
  • Section 12(2) approved under the Mental Health Act (MHA)
  • Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCST

Experience

Essential

  • 3 years or equivalent medical experience
  • 6 months experience in relevant clinical area
  • Evidence of knowledge of diagnosis, treatment + management of complex mental illness

Attributes

Essential

  • Driving licence / able to travel independently

Clinical Governance

Essential

  • A clear understanding of Clinical Governance
  • Demonstrate a commitment to open review of practice

Teaching

Essential

  • Experience of supervising junior medical staff
