About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Internal Auditor to join Warwickshire County Council’s Internal Audit Service. We are looking to appoint one individual at the level of Internal Auditor, Senior Internal Auditor or Principal Internal Auditor, depending on skills, qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made at the appropriate grade and salary in line with our Internal Audit Career Pathway. About Us
Warwickshire County Council’s Internal Audit team delivers a high‑quality, forward‑thinking audit service to the Council and a diverse range of external clients. Our work spans a wide and varied client base, including County and District Council services, Fire and Rescue, and Police, providing exposure to complex, high‑impact areas of the public sector and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking risk‑based audits in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards in the UK Public Sector
- Delivering audit, assurance, advisory and investigative work across a wide range of services
- Providing independent and objective advice on new systems, service redesign and transformation programs
- Undertaking or contributing to investigations into alleged financial irregularities or matters of strategic importance
- Developing practical, proportionate recommendations that add real value for our clients
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with officers at all levels
- Where appropriate, coaching and mentoring colleagues and contributing to the ongoing development of the service
