An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced specialist teacher to contribute to the success of the Autism Outreach and Learning Support Team as Team Manager. The successful candidate will provide operational and strategic leadership to ensure high‑quality, evidence‑based support for children and young people with SEND across Leicestershire, strengthening inclusive practice in mainstream settings and improving outcomes at both pupil and system level.

The Autism Outreach and Learning Support Team is a well‑regarded and welcoming team. As part of the Specialist Teaching Service, staff work in partnership with mainstream schools, families and a wide range of agencies to provide evidence‑based training and advice, alongside coaching and modelling of inclusive practice for pupils in Key Stages 1–5.

This leadership role includes providing effective performance management for staff, leading the review and development of service delivery, and coordinating resources to meet wide‑ranging and evolving demands.

You will lead and support staff who hold individual caseloads and provide advice and information as part of Education, Health and Care needs assessments. You will be confident in quality‑assuring professional advice and recommendations for children and young people with a diagnosis of autism or communication and interaction needs, their families and educational settings, within a multi‑agency context. You will also have proven knowledge and skills in approaches to support learners with cognition and learning needs.

You will play a key leadership role in innovating and implementing service developments linked to changes in referral criteria and national SEND reforms, requiring strong skills and experience in developing and leading change, working in partnership with schools and other agencies and evaluating impact.

Support will be provided by our other STS Team Managers, Service Manager and the Autism Outreach and Learning Support Team. There will be a wide range of professional development, including access to training and mentoring.
