Role Overview

As a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager at WSP, you will take the lead on managing a variety of highways and infrastructure sector projects for our client in Gloucestershire. You will be joining our team towards the beginning of WSP’s long‑term professional services contract for Gloucestershire County Council (GCC). Under this collaborative contract we are based in the client’s office, directly supporting our client’s teams, and sharing a set of delivery objectives. This is an exciting time to be joining our team, as GCC has an ambitious programme of projects to maintain and enhance the transport network and boost the economy across the county.

All our Project Managers take on project responsibility from the outset, invariably owning their own projects from conception to construction. Your role will be at the heart of a high‑performing team, using your skills and expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the project management process, encouraging teams to deliver the right solutions and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
  • Prioritise client satisfaction by building and maintaining strong relationships with GCC and forming trusting relationships with colleagues to ensure effective co‑ordination for mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Manage resources effectively (including remote resources) and efficiently to meet fluctuating workloads.
  • Work with clients and design teams to deliver compliant designs on time and within budget, meeting H&S, CDM, QA and technical review requirements.
  • Develop relationships with other WSP teams to utilise additional resources as required.
  • Agree fees and manage the commercial position on projects.
  • Produce project controls reports to meet client and business requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement stakeholder management plans.
  • Ensure invoicing and cash collection is undertaken in accordance with business process and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within the Civils/Highways sector in project management, business administration, and financial planning.
  • Experience managing a range of project management activities, systems (including enterprise resource planning), and processes.
  • Strong organisational and excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Construction Design Management 2015 and associated duties.
  • Experience in project and resource management with good financial and commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge of NEC 4; qualification desirable.
