The Role

As Service Manager, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and supporting a team of service engineers while actively contributing to service, repair, and calibration activities. You will play a key role in setting standards, improving performance, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of service engineers, providing both technical guidance and day‑to‑day leadership
  • Carry out hands‑on service, repair, and validation/calibration work alongside the team
  • Act as a senior point of contact for customers, handling queries and resolving issues professionally
  • Support commercial activities, including pricing of labour and spare parts
  • Assess warranty claims and make balanced, informed decisions
  • Contribute to the growth and profitability of service contracts
  • Ensure all work meets industry standards and aligns with relevant accreditation requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement, focusing on efficiency, consistency, and high first‑time fix rates

About You

  • Proven experience as a service or field engineer, with additional leadership or management responsibility
  • Strong technical capability with the ability to lead by example in a hands‑on environment
  • Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with both customers and team members
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to balance customer satisfaction and business needs
  • Resilient and solution‑focused, particularly in challenging situations
  • It’s important you have familiarity with UKAS accreditation requirements.
