Job Description:

An opportunity has arisen for a Property Counsel to join the busy in-house legal team of a large infrastructure business based in Birmingham. This role would suit a real estate lawyer currently in private practice who is interested in moving in-house and working closely with commercial and operational teams on a broad range of property matters. You will be part of a collaborative legal function supporting a major infrastructure organisation and will gain exposure to complex land and development issues in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on a broad range of real estate matters connected to infrastructure and development projects
  • Support internal teams with land acquisition, disposals, leases and other property interests
  • Draft, review, and negotiate property agreements and related documentation
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders across land, commercial and operational teams to support the delivery of key infrastructure activities
  • Advise on property arrangements required to facilitate large-scale development and infrastructure delivery
  • Assist with managing a varied caseload of property matters, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives
  • Support the coordination and management of external legal advisers where required
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of standard documentation and internal legal processes
  • Provide practical and commercially focused legal guidance to colleagues across the organisation
  • Assist with the preparation of legal advice and briefings for internal stakeholders and senior management

Key Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor with 1-5 years’ post-qualification experience in real estate or commercial property law
  • Experience gained in private practice advising on property transactions
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills across a range of property agreements
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively in a busy environment
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work closely with non-legal colleagues
  • Exposure to development, infrastructure or large-scale land projects
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams
