Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) – Weekend Insourcing Opportunities

We are seeking experienced Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to support weekend insourcing lists across the East Midlands, helping deliver NHS waiting list initiatives in:
- Anaesthetics
- Scrub/Theatre Surgery
- Recovery
As part of the perioperative team, you will deliver high standards of skilled care and support throughout every stage of the patient journey.
Requirements
To be eligible, you must:
- Be currently working within a busy NHS surgical/theatre team
- Have recent, hands-on experience in anaesthetics, scrub or recovery
- Have actively worked in this setting for at least 6 months within the last 12 months
- Be experienced in preparing operating theatres and supporting safe, effective patient care
- Be confident acting as a key link between the surgical team and wider theatre/hospital services
Key Responsibilities
Duties may include:
- Preparing instruments and specialist equipment for surgery, including microscopes, lasers and endoscopes
- Assisting surgeons by providing the correct instruments and materials during procedures
- Maintaining responsibility for surgical apparatus, equipment and swab counts throughout procedures
- Monitoring patients in recovery and delivering appropriate post-anaesthetic and post-operative care
- Assessing patients prior to discharge back to the ward
