Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) – Weekend Insourcing Opportunities

Location: East Midlands

Availability: Saturdays & Sundays

Rates: Competitive

We are seeking experienced Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to support weekend insourcing lists across the East Midlands, helping deliver NHS waiting list initiatives in:

  • Anaesthetics
  • Scrub/Theatre Surgery
  • Recovery

As part of the perioperative team, you will deliver high standards of skilled care and support throughout every stage of the patient journey.

Requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be currently working within a busy NHS surgical/theatre team
  • Have recent, hands-on experience in anaesthetics, scrub or recovery
  • Have actively worked in this setting for at least 6 months within the last 12 months
  • Be experienced in preparing operating theatres and supporting safe, effective patient care
  • Be confident acting as a key link between the surgical team and wider theatre/hospital services

Key Responsibilities

Duties may include:

  • Preparing instruments and specialist equipment for surgery, including microscopes, lasers and endoscopes
  • Assisting surgeons by providing the correct instruments and materials during procedures
  • Maintaining responsibility for surgical apparatus, equipment and swab counts throughout procedures
  • Monitoring patients in recovery and delivering appropriate post-anaesthetic and post-operative care
  • Assessing patients prior to discharge back to the ward
