Controls & Instrumentation Technician – Power Station

Up to circa £53,000 + bonus + benefits

Bicester, Oxfordshire

SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for a Controls & Instrumentation Technician to join the maintenance department of an energy-from-waste power station near Bicester, Oxfordshire.

This role focuses on delivering safe, reliable control and instrumentation maintenance across the plant, supporting availability, efficiency and long-term asset performance. The successful candidate will work closely with operations and engineering teams to ensure all C&I systems are maintained to a high standard.

Role responsibilities

  • Planned and reactive maintenance on all C&I equipment including sensors, control systems, motors and variable speed drives
  • Fault‑finding, defect rectification, calibration and first‑line repairs
  • Maintaining accurate records and work orders within the CMMS
  • Assisting with plant improvement projects and covering the C&I Engineer’s duties as required
  • Supporting outages, shutdowns and work with specialist contractors
  • Ensuring high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping

Qualifications and experience

  • An apprenticeship in electrical or instrumentation engineering, or equivalent
  • A relevant engineering qualification at HNC/ONC level or similar
  • Hands‑on experience in C&I maintenance in an industrial or process environment such as power generation, EfW, refinery, chemical or water treatment plants
  • Experience using CMMS and interpreting loop drawings and P&IDs
  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work and risk assessments
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
