Salary: Leadership Scale L9–13 (£63,070 – £69,596)

Chyngton Primary School and Nursery is a vibrant, inclusive coastal primary school in Seaford, East Sussex, proud to serve its community from ages 2 to 11. The Role

We are seeking an experienced, confident and values-driven Deputy Headteacher to join our committed and ambitious senior leadership team. Working closely with the Headteacher, you will play a pivotal role in:

  • Shaping and embedding a broad, ambitious curriculum from Nursery to Year 6
  • Leading and developing high-quality teaching and learning across the school
  • Supporting continued improvement in attendance, building on strong relationships with families and external agencies
  • Contributing to a positive professional culture, where staff wellbeing is protected and development is prioritised
  • This post does not include a regular class teaching commitment, allowing you to focus on whole-school leadership and impact
  • Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting strong and effective safeguarding practice

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee curriculum development and implementation (Nursery–Year 6)
  • Lead and monitor whole school teaching and learning, providing support and development where required to ensure high-quality education for all pupils
  • Work with the Headteacher to oversee assessment and pupil progress
  • Drive improvements in attendance through positive, relational and strategic approaches
  • Support staff through coaching, mentoring and professional development
  • Contribute to the day-to-day operational leadership of the school
  • Deputise in the absence of the Headteacher
  • Collaborate with the Headteacher, governors, and trust to achieve school goals
  • Uphold and promote safeguarding, inclusion and pupil wellbeing
