As a Construction Project Manager, you will lead the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of construction projects across the UK. This includes newbuild schemes, refurbishments, building engineering services upgrades, fabric improvements and energy/environmental initiatives. You will manage the full project lifecycle from inception and design through procurement, construction and handover. Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and on budget and to the highest standard.

This is a hands-on role that supports our strategy to increase inhouse capability, insource key delivery activities and achieve better value across our estate. With projects based in a variety of national locations, and on-site presence and travel is expected, but your base location is flexible. A full UK driving licence is required.

The Role

  • Lead and be accountable for the end-to-enddelivery of construction projects (capital and majoropex), covering all relevant RIBAstages end-to-enddelivery of construction projects.
  • Drive projects to achieve cost, programme, quality,scopeand safetyobjectivesin line with the organisation’s operating system and governance frameworks.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams of internal specialists and external contractors, ensuring high performance,collaborationand value.
  • Oversee design development, pricing, tendering, value engineering, construction delivery, practicalcompletionand handover.
  • Implement robust project and programme management tools, governancestructuresand performance controls.
  • Track and report project progress to stakeholders, including financials, safety metrics,risksand overall project status.
  • Work closely with Commercial Management tomaintainaccuratebudgets,validatecostinformationand manage spend within delegated limits.
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory,regulatoryand organisational requirements, including CDM 2015, H&S legislation, CAR2012 and P3M.
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders (including Legal, Technology, Operations, Procurement and Security) and external partners.
  • Influence and negotiate with stakeholders on risks, scopechangesand competing priorities.
  • Proactivelyidentifyopportunities for value engineering,insourcingand improved delivery approaches.
  • Support forecasting processes for building fabric and engineering programmes, helping shape future investment plans.
  • Provide occasional regional cover in support of the Construction Programme Manager.
  • Significant influenceat local/regional and national levels, enabling operational continuity and strategic property improvements.
  • Responsible for crossfunctional project teams of up to 20people.

About You

  • Experience as a Project Manager or Assistant Project Managerin a similar role.
  • A strongtrack recordof delivering propertyrelated projects (building fabric, M&Eor estate)related projects (building fabric, M&Eor estate).
  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of projects in a clientside orcustomerfocusedenvironment.
  • Demonstrable experienceleadinginternal and external teams.
  • Practical knowledge of building surveying and/or building services engineering.
  • Experience preparing scopes, specifications, tender documentation and evaluating bids.
  • Knowledge of JCT contract administration.
  • Strong programme and project management skills, with the ability to manage complex, multistakeholder delivery environments.
  • A clear understanding of valueformoney principles and experienceidentifyingopportunities for insourcing andinhouse capability development.
  • The ability to innovate, challenge assumptions and apply value engineering techniques.
  • Excellent communication and relationshipbuilding skills across technical,commercialand operationalstakeholders.

Qualifications (desirable, not essential)

  • Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, ICE, CIOB, CIBSE, IET).
  • Recognised project management qualification (e.g., APM, PMQ).
  • CSCS card or successful completion of the Construction Skills H&S test.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
