My client are rapidly expanding their mental health community services and require a field-based Clinical Manager to bring strong clinical governance oversite, detailed mental health insight and a thrust and drive to do what needs to be done to ensure the service gives its clients the best experience of life and continues to grow.
As the service is beginning to establish it may require the Clinical Manager to step in and cover shifts to ensure clients are kept safe in urgent circumstances. This is not something that my client sees as a long-term expectation as they are currently bolstering their contingency options but would like to be clear about the expectation and possibility from inception.
The Role
Reporting into senior clinical leadership, you will lead the day-to-day clinical and operational delivery of a regional portfolio of care packages. The role is field-based and varied, blending strategic oversight with practical, on-the-ground involvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the delivery and ongoing quality of community-based care packages across the region
- Providing clinical supervision, mentoring and performance support to frontline staff including support workers, nurses and Allied Health Professionals
- Conducting clinical assessments, developing person-centred care plans and risk assessments, and ensuring care is delivered in line with regulatory and best-practice standards
- Acting as a key point of contact for families, commissioners, case managers and multidisciplinary professionals, building trusted, long-term working relationships
- Supporting package mobilisation by participating in shifts during set-up phases to embed standards, model good practice and ensure continuity of care
- Contributing to service improvement, governance, audit activity and the development of new packages as the regional portfolio grows
About You
You will be a confident clinical leader with a strong community-based background and the operational mindset to manage a dispersed, package-based service.
Essential:
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or RNLD with active NMC registration
- Demonstrable experience working in community-based mental health or complex care settings
- Proven leadership experience, including line management, supervision and team development
- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding and CQC requirements
- Experience of care planning, risk assessment and multidisciplinary working
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Based in or near London and the South East Home Counties, with willingness and flexibility to travel across the region at short notice
- Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills
- Flexibility to participate in care delivery during package mobilisation when required
