Excel Recruitment is recruiting a Pollinator Monitoring Research Assistant on behalf of The National Biodiversity Data Centre, Co. Waterford This position is funded by the Government of Ireland’s Shared Island Fund. The successful candidate will be based in the National Biodiversity Data Centre, Co. Waterford. Closing Date for Applications: 5pm on Friday 17th of April 2026 The National Biodiversity Data Centre delivers Ireland’s National Pollinator Monitoring Scheme, tracking bees, hoverflies and butterflies across farmland and semi-natural habitats using EU-approved methods. A similar scheme operates in Northern Ireland, supporting island-wide monitoring under the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan. Changes to EU methodology mean the two schemes may diverge after 2025, making consistent monitoring across the island more important than ever. Funding from the Government of Ireland’s Shared Island Fund will support continued all-island monitoring, and applications are now invited for a Pollinator Monitoring Research Assistant to support this work.
