HGV Field Service Engineer

Covering Leicestershire and Northampton.

Contek Recruitment Solutions are collaborating with our client who are a leading UK-based manufacturer who specialise in refuse collection vehicles (RCVs). Founded in 1895, the company dominates the UK market, with over 60% of local councils using their vehicles.

Offering a competitive salary between £45,663.70 – £48,578.40 per annum DOE (based on 45 hours per week), Dennis Eagle provides flexibility with a 40-hour per week option.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair faults on vehicle chassis and mounted equipment.
  • Carry out servicing and maintenance to a high standard.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure compliance with Department of Transport specifications.
  • Use diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve issues.
  • Log all work using PDA software and maintain accurate service records.

Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Communication: Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information.
  • Knowledge/Expertise: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance, with strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Innovation: Experience with electric vehicles, IRTEC qualification, or HGV Class 2 licence is a bonus.
  • Business Impact: Comfortable working independently, managing your own workload, and ensuring compliance with vehicle technology systems and standards.

Accountabilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all service and repair tasks.
  • Maintain leadership in health and safety practices, completing risk assessments as required.
