The Office of General Counsel provides strategic legal and governance advice to the institution and ensures appropriate risk and compliance frameworks and assurance processes are in place to support UCL’s mission, strategy and values. UCL’s Internal Audit Service is outsourced to an external IA partner. UCL’s Risk and Internal Audit Office is responsible for developing and implementing effective risk and assurance activities across the institution and acting as the main point of liaison with the external partner.
About the role
Are you ready to make an impact at one of the world’s leading universities? As our Head of Internal Audit, you will be a senior member of the recently established Risk and Internal Audit team, helping to design, promote and foster effective assurance processes across the university and ensuring robust internal audit oversight with our external IA partner. You will work with a wide range of staff across UCL, up to the highest level, including the Provost, Vice‑Provosts, members of the UCL Council, the General Counsel, Deans of Faculty and Heads of Department. You will also be the second‑in‑command for the Internal Audit function, deputising for the Chief Risk and Internal Audit Officer as required.
About you
Things you will need for the job include:
- Extensive internal audit knowledge and experience gained at a managerial level
- An internal audit qualification, such as CIA, IIA, ACCA or CIMA
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of the tools and techniques of internal audit
- Demonstrable experience of building and managing key stakeholder relationships
