- Ensure ELT pipeline reliability across ingestion tools (Fivetran, Airbyte, Stitch, or similar), with appropriate alerting and incident response processes.
- Manage data freshness SLAs and communicate proactively when issues arise.
Cost & Resource Management
- Monitor and optimise Snowflake credit consumption, identifying inefficient queries and recommending warehouse configurations.
- Implement resource monitors, tagging strategies, and chargeback models where appropriate.
- Partner with Finance to forecast data platform costs and manage budget.
Governance & Quality
- Establish and enforce data quality frameworks using dbt tests, freshness checks, and anomaly detection.
- Maintain access control policies and ensure compliance with data governance requirements.
- Own the incident management process for data issues, including root cause analysis and prevention measures.
Enablement & Process

- Support data engineers and analysts with best practices for dbt development, including code review standards and deployment processes.
- Champion observability tooling (Monte Carlo, Elementary, dbt Cloud, or similar) to provide visibility into data health.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Data Engineering on infrastructure improvements and architectural decisions.
- Partner with Analytics and Business Intelligence teams to understand data consumer needs and prioritise reliability improvements.
- Coordinate with Security and Compliance on audit requirements and access reviews.
Required Experience
- Extensive experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform roles.

- Proficiency with dbt (Core or Cloud), including advanced features like incremental models, macros, and testing frameworks.
- Experience operating ELT pipelines at scale with tools like Fivetran, Airbyte, or custom solutions.
- Understanding of DataOps principles and CI/CD for data (version control, automated testing, deployment pipelines).
Desirable
- Experience with data observability platforms (Monte Carlo, Elementary, Datafold).
- Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).
- Background in cost optimisation for cloud data platforms.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance requirements (GDPR, SOC2).
