Job Overview

Mitie is recruiting a Security Officer based in Manchester at one of our client’s primary locations. The role is a minimum 42‑hour contracted position with a pay rate of £14.17 per hour. The site operates from Monday to Saturday, and the officer may be asked to work special events that finish after 20:00 or on Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for all customers and clients, maintaining geographical awareness of the local surroundings.
• Conduct regular patrols in all weather conditions, ensuring the safety and security of the premises.
• Spot and stop suspicious activity or potential criminal incidents, retaining full control until emergency services arrive.
• Report and record all sightings and arrests in a timely manner to the Security Shift Manager.
• Collaborate effectively with the Security Supervisor and Operations Manager to support the security team.

Qualifications

• Previous security experience required; retail security experience preferred but not mandatory.
• Valid SIA licence.
• SC clearance desirable.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Calm and composed under pressure.
• Knowledge of relevant procedures, customer service standards, and health & safety requirements.
