Are you a dedicated, experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about inclusive education and supporting pupils with SEND to flourish?

Reed Education is working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Barnsley area to recruit a qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant for a long-term, full-time position, starting as soon as possible.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a SEND-focused Teaching Assistant who wants stability, purpose and the chance to make a genuine difference in children’s lives.

The Role

You will be supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities both in and out of the classroom, helping them to access learning, build confidence and achieve their individual potential.

SEND support is central to the school’s ethos, with a strong emphasis on inclusion, nurturing relationships and meeting pupils’ emotional, social and academic needs. You’ll work alongside experienced teachers and a supportive inclusion team to deliver consistent, high-quality provision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
  • Support learning within the classroom and through structured interventions
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs
  • Support pupils with autism, communication and interaction needs, speech and language difficulties, and social/emotional needs
  • Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo and external professionals
  • Create a safe, respectful and nurturing learning environment
