Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Operational Control
    • Deliver against agreed KPIs, proactively communicating risks and implementing corrective action plans with both internal teams and customers.
    • Oversee the smooth day-to-day operation of a multi-user warehouse, ensuring effective resource planning, processes and documentation.
    • Regularly review productivity measures and challenge resource plans to optimise performance.
    • Manage site facilities efficiently, ensuring high standards through effective use of internal and external resources.
    • Foster a collaborative, cross-functional culture, championing best practice and continuous improvement.
    • Introduce innovative and practical solutions to support business strategy and growth.
    • Build and maintain strong external relationships to share insight, innovation and industry best practice.
    • Act as a visible role model for company values and behaviours, addressing issues positively and proactively.
  • Financial Management
    • Full P&L responsibility for a £5‑6m budget, ensuring costs are controlled in line with targets.
    • Understand and communicate the commercial impact of financial decisions.
    • Ensure supplier agreements and terms are effectively managed and compliant.
    • Adhere to company financial policies, providing guidance and support where required.
    • Manage customer charging mechanisms, ensuring all revenue is captured accurately.
    • Produce a monthly financial summary for senior management, tracking savings and improvement initiatives.
  • Customer Service
    • Build and maintain strong, trusted customer relationships.
    • Provide accurate management information and reporting, ensuring effective MBRs and QBRs are in place and add value.
  • Continuous Improvement & Sustainability
    • Continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency, quality and customer experience.
    • Promote and embed Yusen’s quality management systems across the site.
    • Identify and develop additional logistics revenue opportunities with customers.
    • Support the development of sustainable, commercially strong solutions aligned to company and customer expectations.
  • Health & Safety
    • Champion a safe, inclusive working environment, ensuring all H&S procedures and PPE standards are followed.
    • Ensure equipment checks are completed and any risks are addressed promptly.
    • Maintain and update risk assessments, safe systems of work and site instructions.
  • Team Leadership
    • Develop and support your team through structured training, performance reviews, mentoring and coaching.
    • Ensure clear communication of business priorities, expectations and outcomes.
    • Promote employee engagement initiatives and measure tangible results.
    • Support employee wellbeing, ensuring appropriate support mechanisms are in place.
    • Apply company people policies consistently and fairly, supporting investigations, grievances and disciplinary processes where required.

Managing a team of five direct reports with an indirect team of 110, you will have full responsibility for site performance, delivering an excellent service to our customers while maintaining strong financial control, safety standards, quality compliance and employee engagement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong general education with good written English
  • IOSH Managing Safely (desirable, not essential)
  • Proven experience managing a warehouse or site operation (multi-user preferred)
  • Sound commercial awareness with responsibility for budgets of £5‑6m
  • 3PL experience with customer-facing accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to build, motivate and lead high-performing teams
  • Experience delivering continuous improvement initiatives with measurable impact
  • Calm, resilient approach with strong problem-solving skills
  • Confident communicator, able to create and deliver clear presentations
  • Strong values, integrity and customer focus
  • IT-literate: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
