As a Programme Manager within NHS Blood Supply, youll play a pivotal role in shaping services that directly impact patient care and outcomes. You will lead a range of complex and high-profile projects/programmes from initial concept through to successful delivery, ensuring each one strengthens NHSBTs capability to save and improve lives. Working within an organisation driven by purpose and values, you will ensure every project aligns with strategic priorities, meets operational needs, and delivers tangible benefits to donors, colleagues, and the patients who rely on us.In this role, you will bring expert programme and project management skills to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, driving progress through robust planning, stakeholder engagement, and effective resource & budget management. Youll influence at all levels, even without direct line authority, while fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement & high-quality customer care. As a trusted leader, you will also deputise for the Portfolio & Programme Manager and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of NHSBTs project management methods and tools.This is an opportunity for an experienced project or programme professional to make a meaningful difference in a nationally critical service. Main duties of the job

To manage programmes or portfolios of related NHSBT projects from inception through to completion. To ensure timely and successful project conclusions and delivery of capability for achieving business benefits through;Planning, supporting and monitoring the progress of the programmeManaging internal resources and external suppliers and consultants,ensuring that programme and project deliverables are tightly linked to the achievement of strategic initiatives for the business unittaking accountability for the planning, structuring, leading and executionEnsuring adherence to programme objectives.Participate in the development and improvement of the NHSBT Portfolio, Programme and Project Management tools and methods

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Possess a degree in an appropriate discipline (e.g. business, management, information systems) OR demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Practitioner Certificate in PRINCE2 or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Experience

  • Proven ability to provide detailed project plans, set deadlines and milestones, allocate and monitor resources and identify critical path
  • Proven experience in a broad range of project lifecycles
  • Proven experience & knowledge of the production of business cases and all associated documentation required throughout a projects lifecycle.
  • Proven resource management and allocation experience, including those not under direct line management control
  • Proven experience and knowledge of budgeting and financial control
  • Knowledge of using Microsoft Office tools, in particular Microsoft Project, TEAMs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
