A global financial services organisation is looking for a Cybersecurity Architect (VP level) to help design and secure the next phase of its cloud-first technology platform.
This role sits at the centre of a major AWS transformation, where you will take ownership of cyber security architecture and ensure the cloud environment is secure by design from day one.
You’ll combine hands-on engineering, architecture leadership, and team mentorship within a lean cyber team that works closely with infrastructure, engineering and risk leadership.
What you’ll be doing
- Owning and evolving the organisation’s cyber security architecture
- Designing secure patterns, standards and controls for a growing AWS environment
- Implementing and optimising cloud security tooling, monitoring and detection
- Leading the response to security incidents, zero-day vulnerabilities and emerging threats
- Overseeing and improving vulnerability management
- Working closely with engineering and development teams to ensure secure design and coding practices
- Representing cyber security within architecture review boards and technology projects
- Mentoring and guiding SOC analysts and junior cyber specialists
- Producing security metrics, reporting and technical guidance for leadership
The role combines hands-on security engineering with strategic architecture ownership in a cloud-focused environment.
- AWS cloud platform (core focus)
- Growing cloud estate with significant greenfield design work
- Mix of cloud, SaaS and Microsoft on-prem infrastructure
- Security tooling focused on visibility, vulnerability management and identity security
What we’re looking for
- Strong AWS security architecture experience
- Broad background across cloud security, incident response, vulnerability management and SOC environments
- Experience designing secure cloud architectures and security controls
- Ability to work with engineering teams to embed security into development and infrastructure
- Strong communicator who can influence engineers, architects and leadership
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior security engineers or SOC analysts (you will be managing two)
Nice to have:
- IAM / identity security expertise
- Security certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, Security+, CEH or similar
- Experience in financial services or FCA-regulated environments
- Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF
