About the role
The Software Systems Engineering group (SSE) undertakes world-leading research in areas including Requirements Engineering, Program Analysis, Software Analytics, Software Fairness, Software Testing, Automated Program Repair, Search-Based Software Engineering, Software Engineering for Artificial Intelligence, and Artificial Intelligence for Software Engineering. The SSE group seeks to complement and strengthen its expertise by recruiting an outstanding researcher active in Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering. We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in at least one of the following areas (more than one is desirable):
- SE & AI: Expertise in Software Engineering for AI (SE for AI) and Artificial Intelligence for Software Engineering (AI for SE). Research may cover design, implementation, operation, and assurance of AI-powered software systems, and the impact and utilization of AI methodologies in software engineering.
- AI and Data Engineering: Data engineering for software systems, building robust infrastructures to manage, store, and process data, enabling machine learning and intelligent features within software. This includes data preparation, feature engineering, real-time and batch inference, data lifecycle management, governance, privacy, and ethical use.
The post holder will carry out research, teaching and administration within the Department of Computer Science at UCL.
About you
The Department of Computer Science (CS) at UCL is looking to appoint a Lecturer in Software Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering. This is a full-time permanent post at Grade 8 with a salary range £52,487–£61,534 inclusive of London Allowance per annum. The appointee will be based in the Software Systems Engineering (SSE) group within the UCL CS Department. A PhD in Computer Science or closely related area is essential. The appointee must demonstrate a strong track record in high-quality research, evidenced by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and other impactful research outputs in at least one of the subject areas: software engineering for artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence for software engineering, artificial intelligence and data engineering.
