About the Post
Barnsley Council invites applicants to lead the Democratic Services Team. The role involves working with the public, political parties, and Councillors to support democratic processes within the Council.
Responsibilities
- Support formal decision-making processes within the Council, including Cabinet and various regulatory boards.
- Manage a team of Democratic Services Officers who advise on Council meetings such as the Planning Regulatory Board, Licensing Regulatory Board and the six Area Councils.
- Provide leadership for the team to ensure effective organisation and decision-making in hearings such as School Admission Appeals, Independent Review Panels for School Exclusions and multiple Charity Boards.
- Collaborate with officers across the Council to maintain good governance and uphold democratic procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience in democratic processes and knowledge of Council decision-making.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong IT competency and ability to form relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A drive to deliver efficient and effective democratic processes within the Council.
