The Role – Print Buyer

Reporting to the senior management team, you will take full accountability for the company’s supply chain strategy, delivery and commercial estimating. You will:

  • Develop and implement business and supply chain strategies to achieve growth, profitability, and long-term resilience.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations across purchasing, prioritising deliveries in line with production requirements, whilst ensuring optimal performance and cost efficiency.
  • Drive productivity, efficiency, and environmental improvements, reducing costs while maintaining the highest quality and sourcing standards.
  • Lead a robust procurement function, managing direct relationships with key raw material suppliers to secure supply and value.
  • Champion waste reduction initiatives, mitigating risk, and improving supplier performance through effective management and innovation.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure all operations – including delivery – meet strict quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Build and manage new supply chain partnerships, leading negotiations and implementing strategic contractual SLAs and KPIs.
  • Oversee, the raising of purchase orders and confirm delivery with production and customer services.
  • Address supplier-related concerns across both current and future projects, ensuring continuity of supply and service excellence.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to ensure operations align with overarching business goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Manage financial performance, including procurement budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure commercial targets are met.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, customers, suppliers and industry partners.

The Role – Estimator

  • Estimate costs and propose margins using the software system in place, considering standard estimating rules as applicable, and the rates and costs agreed with the site and the commercial team.
  • Co-ordinate and prepare submissions for tenders.
  • Present estimates to key stakeholders, explain approach on costing pricing in an articulate way.
  • Ensure all costs and parameters within area estimating models are kept updated in line with company guidelines.
  • Ensure all pricing is updated in a timely manner and provided to the relevant Customer Service or Commercial teams.
  • Create improvement opportunities within Existing customer base by Suggesting more efficient order pattern management, routings, or any other process improvement.
  • Monitor & Ensure New business awarded to the company is performing to financial expectations
  • Maintain and develop costing records of orders produced and provide for comparisons to estimated costs.
  • Understand Machine Rates and Material movements and maintain costs in pricing model.

Key Skills Required

  • Demonstrable success in manufacturing, supply chain management, and production operations.
  • Strong understanding of print procurement and supplier risk management.
  • Strategic, analytical, and commercially focused, with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Experienced in leading change programmes, driving performance, and delivering measurable results.
  • Knowledgeable about market trends and regulations within the print and direct mail sectors.
  • Experience in estimating print and direct mail
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills.
  • Drive to achieve results.
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills, both written and spoken
  • Excellent attention to detail
