Overview

WQE is a thriving Sixth Form College located across two campuses on University Road and Regent Road. We are looking to appoint a well qualified, self‑motivated and enthusiastic Deputy Head of Studies (DHOS) to join our pastoral leadership team. The role is primarily based at one site but will involve regular cross‑college collaboration and movement between campuses.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work closely with one of our Heads of Studies and collaborate with the wider pastoral team of Heads and Deputy Heads of Studies. Duties include:

  • Leading and coordinating systems and processes that monitor academic progress and ensure high‑quality pastoral support for all students.
  • Assisting the Heads of Studies in managing and supporting Personal Progress Mentors to provide timely, appropriate and effective guidance throughout students’ time at the College.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for student management issues during the college day and working with other Deputy Heads of Studies to maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications & Experience

A well‑qualified and self‑motivated candidate with experience in supporting student learning experiences, progress and development. Prior leadership or deputy head experience at a further‑education or similar setting is highly desirable.

Salary & Benefits

Salary is on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff pay scale 19 – 22, ranging from £36,564 to £39,957 per annum pro‑rata. The starting salary for this post is £31,738, negotiable based on experience.
