The College operates across two campuses, next to the University of Leicester on University Road and a smaller campus at Regent Road.

Role: Head of Welfare & Skills

The successful candidate will provide efficient, responsive and flexible leadership of the College’s welfare and skills function to ensure the best possible experiences, safety and outcomes for students, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Lead the Welfare & Skills Team across both campuses, overseeing staff and ensuring line management responsibilities are shared effectively. Manage a wide range of student support, including medical conditions, mental health needs, SEND, exam access arrangements, EHCPs and Children Looked After. Work closely with the Associate Principal for Students & Welfare to oversee strategic security arrangements, ensuring legislation and guidance is adhered to and maintaining the safety and security of the college community.

Qualifications

  • A degree and a PGCE or equivalent qualification.
  • Substantial teaching and safeguarding experience, with a proven record of working with 16–19 year olds and supervising support arrangements for young people with a range of additional needs.
  • A relevant SEND qualification and experience of implementing organisational change.

Employment Details

This is a full‑time, term‑time permanent post starting as soon as possible.

Salary and Allowance

The salary falls within the Sixth Form Colleges pay spine of £33,465 – £51,714 per annum, plus a responsibility allowance commencing at £10,431 and rising annually to £12,398.
