Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, is recruiting for a Quality Engineer to support compliance, continuous improvement, and maintenance of high standards across our operations. This role will be based at our Bishops Cleeve site.

The Role
As a Quality Engineer, you’ll ensure adherence to AS9100 standards, UK CAA regulations, and customer requirements within a highly regulated aerospace environment. Working with the Operations Quality Manager and the Site Head of Quality, you’ll provide technical support, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and embed a strong culture of quality across the business.
You’ll support implementation and ongoing adherence to the site Quality Management System, owning non‑conformance activities including MRB processes, root cause investigations, and corrective actions. You’ll drive down cost of poor quality through effective problem solving, ensuring robust processes prevent recurrence.
You will work cross‑functionally, support internal and external investigations, lead continuous improvement activities using lean methodologies, and manage NCRs through structured approaches such as 8D. You’ll also contribute to system development, support quality ticketing processes, and provide measurement and verification support.
About You
You are a detail‑oriented, proactive Quality Engineer with strong technical expertise and a process‑driven mindset. You have experience in a regulated environment, with a solid understanding of AS9100 standards and non‑conformance management.
You are comfortable conducting root cause analysis using methods such as 8D and 5 Whys, and working with measurement equipment including gauges, micrometers, and CMM. Strong analytical skills and the ability to produce clear, structured reports are essential.
Additionally, you bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams to drive improvements and influence outcomes.
Experience or knowledge of UK CAA regulations, aerospace customer standards, continuous improvement methodologies (Lean or Six Sigma), and First Article Inspection processes is advantageous.
