We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and skilled Mental Health Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team within the Inclusion Drug & Alcohol Service, working specifically with individuals experiencing homelessness. You will play a pivotal role in supporting people with co‑occurring mental health conditions and substance use needs, helping to break down barriers to engagement and improving health outcomes for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health assessments, risk assessments, and care planning for people with complex needs.
  • Work proactively with individuals who may be non‑engaging, transient or have experienced trauma.
  • Deliver evidence‑based interventions, including harm reduction advice and relapse prevention support.
  • Collaborate with substance misuse workers, social care, homeless outreach teams, and health partners.
  • Support individuals to access physical health care, safeguarding support, housing, and wider community services.
  • Contribute to the development of trauma‑informed, psychologically safe pathways for people experiencing homelessness.
  • Maintain clinical records, care plans, and documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working in homelessness or drug and alcohol services.
  • Experience and knowledge of co‑occurring mental health and substance misuse conditions.
  • Mental Health Nurse registration.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness.
  • Uses trauma‑informed, person‑centred approaches.
  • Works well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Builds trusting relationships and engages people creatively.
  • Confident in clinical decision‑making and risk management.
