Job Description
We are currently partnering with a Local Authority in Greater Manchester, who are recruiting for a Senior Governance Lead to support their team on a 12-month locum basis.
This is a full-time position with an hourly rate of up to £42 p/hour (negotiable) via an Umbrella company and the start date is subject to notice.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Providing hands-on senior governance support, including direct involvement in committee, scrutiny and decision-making activity, alongside senior advice and assurance
- Supporting the governance improvement plan and aligning workstreams with Democratic Services delivery
- Supporting the improvement of governance frameworks, processes and ways of working (e.g., report quality, publication standards, forward planning, decision workflows)
- Strengthening scrutiny arrangements, including work programming and follow-up of recommendations
- Leading and coordinating inter-dependent governance improvement activity across teams to maintain statutory assurance while change is delivered
Requirements:
- Experience required within Local Government
- Experience with governance improvement processes
