We are looking for an outstanding Activity Coordinator with a passion for delivering excellent care on Roxeth Ward.
The expected shift pattern will be 5 shifts a week. You will work 4 days a week Monday to Friday and be expected to work one day on the weekend each week. Working hours will be 9am – 5pm.
Roxeth Ward is our 12‑bed acute service for men, based at Cygnet Hospital Harrow. The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for individuals who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require emergency admission.
Main duties of the job
Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides a recovery‑focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems. We also offer specialist diagnostic, assessment and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs, including those with a dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. Our acute in‑patient psychiatric services offer assessment, diagnosis and treatment for individuals with a wide range of psychological and emotional problems, including those detained under the Mental Health Act.
Develop, plan, implement and oversee activities, outings and events for the people in our care.
Assist the Occupational Therapist with:
- Encouraging patients to access and become involved in a variety of activities, while maintaining any pre‑existing hobbies.
- Planning and implementing therapy programmes while ensuring appropriate materials are obtained.
- Contributing ideas and facilitating events and activities in a safe manner.
You are…
- Experience and/or a passion for working in healthcare and with learning disabilities.
- Some knowledge of Occupational Therapy.
- An excellent role model who knows what good care looks like.
- Highly organised with a positive attitude.
- A confident public speaker and facilitator.
- Knowledgeable of suitable activities and pastimes to support mental health service users.
- Positive in your approach to working with challenging behaviours.
- Experienced in planning, resourcing and carrying out events and activities.
