Job Title: Senior Electronics Hardware Design Engineer Location: Gillingham, UK Salary: Circa £60,000 + benefits Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Overview An established engineering organisation is seeking a Senior Electronics Hardware Design Engineer to join its electronics team. You will work on the development of electronic control systems used in high-volume, safety-critical environments. The role supports both existing products and next-generation technologies.

The Role You will take ownership of electronics hardware design from concept through to validation and production support. Key responsibilities:

  • Develop electronic hardware designs for control systems
  • Translate requirements into practical design solutions
  • Produce schematics, bills of materials, and technical documentation
  • Perform worst-case circuit analysis
  • Lead and maintain Electrical DFMEA activities
  • Support PCB layout teams with ECAD input
  • Manage and release design documentation
  • Support validation and testing activities
  • Work with manufacturing teams to support production
  • Prepare technical reports and updates
  • Deliver work to cost, quality, and timing targets
  • Identify and escalate risks and issues
  • Contribute to engineering standards and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in electronics hardware design
  • Background in control systems or similar products
  • Understanding of Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and FMEDA
  • Experience with Electrical DFMEA
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Experience with ECAD tools (Mentor Graphics / Xpedition preferred)
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional teams
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to manage deadlines effectively

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary circa £60,000
  • Hybrid working (up to 2 days from home after onboarding)

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30
  • Friday: 08:00 – 13:00
  • 37 hours per week
