Interim Head of Operations – Local Authority (West Midlands)
We are supporting a local authority in the West Midlands to appoint an Interim Head of Operations on a 12‑month contract, inside IR35.
This is a senior interim role with responsibility for a broad and high‑impact portfolio, including Leisure, Street Scene, and Parks and Green Spaces. The brief is clear: to review, optimise and strengthen operational structures, performance, and service delivery across these areas.
Key focus of the role includes:
- Leading and stabilising multi‑disciplinary operational services
- Reviewing structures, ways of working and capacity
- Driving performance improvement and operational efficiency
- Working closely with senior leadership and Members to deliver change
- Ensuring services remain resident‑focused and financially sustainable
About you:
- Significant local authority experience is essential
- Proven senior leadership experience across operational place‑based services
- A strong track record in performance improvement and organisational design
- Credibility to operate at pace in a complex political environment
