Overview

Three Shires Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join its Pharmacy Department. The role is full‑time (37.5 hours per week) and permanently based in Northampton.

Salary is up to £45,500 per year, depending on experience, training and qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct medication reviews for inpatients and outpatients, identifying interactions, contraindications and opportunities for medicines optimisation.
  • Provide tailored advice to patients on their treatment plans, addressing side‑effects, compliance and lifestyle considerations.
  • Support safe prescribing through reconciliation, clinical screening and dose adjustment.
  • Review and authorise prescriptions in line with clinical guidelines, formulary restrictions and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote the safe and cost‑effective use of medicines by supporting adherence to local and national policies.
  • Collaborate with procurement, stock control and pharmacy technicians to ensure medicine availability and supply continuity.
  • Monitor and report medication incidents, near misses and adverse drug reactions in line with hospital protocols and MHRA guidance.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A degree in pharmacy (MPharm, BSc or BPharm).
  • GPhC registration as a pharmacist.
  • Previous experience in a clinical hospital pharmacy role.
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutics, clinical guidelines and pharmaceutical legislation.
  • Excellent communication and clinical decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Confidence in using electronic prescribing and medication administration systems (e.g., EPMA).
