Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are recruiting for Refuse Loaders and Waste Operatives to work with a local council across Chesterfield / Sheffield.
This is a physically demanding, outdoor role ideal for candidates with experience in labouring, waste collection, recycling, or other hands-on roles.
Refuse Loader Duties:
- Collecting household waste and recycling bins
- Loading refuse and recycling into collection vehicles
- Working as part of a waste collection team
- Completing daily collection routes
- Supporting street cleansing and environmental services
- Manual handling and lifting throughout the shift
- Walking long distances (up to 20,000 steps per day)
Requirements:
- Experience in labouring, warehouse, refuse collection, or outdoor work preferred
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Reliable and able to commit to full-time hours
- Full UK Driving Licence required – need to commute to site for early starts
- PPE required (safety boots and hi-vis)
Hours & Pay:
- £12.71 (increasing to £13.05 after 13 weeks service)
- 37–42 hours per week
- 06.30am-3.00pm (potential requirement for 07.00am-4.00pm whilst training)
- Ongoing, full-time work for 26–38 weeks
