Senior DevOps Engineer – PropTech – AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, Startup – £500/day (OUTSIDE IR35)
A fast-growing PropTech (property tech) firm, backed by industry-leading VCs and investors, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer. Operating as an all-in-one platform changing the future of commercial property, this innovative company is looking for a dynamic individual to level up how they build and ship software.
The Senior DevOps Engineer’s role: This is a high-ownership, contract position where you will be the sole DevOps person, serving as the go-to expert for all things infrastructure. You will own the AWS environment, driving a real push toward security best practices as the company works toward ISO 27001 certification. This isn’t just about maintenance; it’s about making things better—creating tighter CI/CD pipelines and cleaner infrastructure-as-code within a collaborative, hybrid environment.
Responsibilities
- Own and improve the AWS infrastructure with a focus on reliability, cost-efficiency, and sensible architecture
- Write and maintain Terraform to ensure all cloud resources are codified, version-controlled, and reviewable
- Build out and refine CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to help developers ship code safely and confidently
- Drive infrastructure security forward, implementing access controls, secrets management, and practical security policies for ISO 27001
- Evaluate and introduce new tooling to increase speed and reliability across the development workflow
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure issues, acting as the primary point of contact when things break
- Expert-level proficiency in AWS and Terraform—the core requirements to own and manage the cloud environment
- Strong experience building CI/CD pipelines, specifically using GitHub Actions
- Proven ability to work toward security standards like ISO 27001, implementing robust access controls and monitoring
- Clear, proactive communicator who can share the “why” behind infrastructure decisions with the wider dev team
- Comfortable as the sole DevOps domain expert, taking full ownership of decision-making and problem-solving
- A “keep it simple” attitude, prioritizing efficient, practical solutions over over-engineering
Qualifications
- Senior DevOps Engineer experience with AWS and Terraform
- Proficient in building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions
- Experience advancing security standards such as ISO 27001
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain infrastructure decisions
- Ability to work independently as the sole DevOps domain expert
