Langdon Colleges vision is to provide outstanding teaching and learning environment to ensure our young people are empowered to be as independent as possible. To help make this vision a reality, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Deputy Head to support the smooth running of the college.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Head of College, providing leadership, development and management of the whole College curriculum, assessment, teaching and learning of all students.
- Take a lead role in the monitoring and evaluation of standards across the whole College and be a leading professional actively promoting effective teaching and learning practices across the College.
- Support the headteacher and governors in establishing a vision for the future of the College, demonstrating inspirational leadership and creativity.
- Play a leading role in the College development planning process, taking account of the agreed priorities of the College and how these link with National and local initiatives.
- Develop and ensure the curriculum meets the changing needs of the college’s cohort.
- Lead responsibility for the analysis of key College performance data, to ensure priorities are appropriate and improvement in standards is promoted.
- Promote and safeguard the safety and welfare of young people.
- Contribute to a regular review of the organisation of the College to ensure it meets statutory requirements.
- Ensure that resources are distributed to enhance the effectiveness of the curriculum delivery.
- Support the governing body in meeting its responsibility to account for the performance of the College.
Qualifications
- Qualified teacher status.
- Advance training in SEN.
- ‘Working Together in Safeguarding Children’ or similar course.
- Evidence of leadership and management of a whole College aspect.
- Evidence of outstanding teaching in an SEN environment.
- A record of continuous professional development that includes training in leadership and management.
- Experience of supporting, training and helping to coordinate the professional development of colleagues.

- Follow College safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
- Follow child protection and whistle blowing procedures in place.
