Children's Support Worker

Job Title: Children’s Support Worker – Secure UnitLocation: PeterboroughSalary: 18.00 – 19.00 per hour

About the Role:We are currently recruiting experienced and resilient Children’s Support Workers to join a secure unit in Peterborough. This is a highly rewarding role supporting vulnerable children and young people with complex needs in a structured and secure environment. You will play a key role in promoting safety, stability, and positive behavioural outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality care and supervision within a secure setting
• Support children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs
• Safely manage challenging behaviours in line with training and policies
• Build professional, trusting relationships with young people
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver care plans
• Maintain accurate records and reports

Requirements:

• Minimum of 6 months’ UK experience working with children or young people
• Valid restraint training (e.g. MAPA, CPI, or equivalent) – essential
• Strong communication and de-escalation skills
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations
• Flexible to work shifts, including evenings and weekends

Desirable (but not essential):

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Relevant qualification in Health & Social Care or Childcare
