People Business Partner (Interim)

London (Hybrid – 1–2 days onsite, more initially preferred)

Up to £220 per day (umbrella)

Approx. 3-month contract | Inside IR35

The opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced People Business Partner to join a high-performing People & Culture team on an interim basis.

This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where you’ll work closely with senior leaders, providing both strategic guidance and hands-on HR support across a range of complex and sensitive issues.

What you’ll be doing

  • Partnering with senior leaders to deliver business priorities and people plans
  • Managing a high-volume, complex Employee Relations caseload
  • Advising on issues including conduct, grievance, performance, and absence
  • Supporting Employment Tribunal activity where required
  • Coaching managers through challenging and sensitive situations
  • Supporting organisational change, restructuring, and workforce planning
  • Driving initiatives to improve culture, performance, and engagement
  • Collaborating with HR specialists to deliver joined-up people solutions
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders, including senior leadership and Trade Unions

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a senior HR Business Partner
  • Strong, hands-on Employee Relations expertise
  • Experience handling complex and high-risk cases
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Experience supporting or contributing to Employment Tribunal cases

Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 7 (or equivalent experience)
  • Chartered or Fellow CIPD (or equivalent)

Nice to have

  • Experience in public sector, legal, or highly regulated environments
  • Experience in smaller or specialist organisations
  • Familiarity with Oracle HR systems
