Mechanical Engineers – Life Science & Healthcare

Cambridge, UK | Full-time | Permanent

We’re working with a leading Cambridge-based technology consultancy that is expanding its Mechanical Engineering capability across Life Science and Healthcare.

This opportunity offers the chance to work on a broad range of technically challenging and commercially impactful projects, from early-stage concept development through to product realisation and manufacture.

The Role

You will contribute to the design and development of innovative products across areas such as:

  • Drug delivery devices (injectables, inhalation, combination products)
  • Diagnostics and laboratory instrumentation
  • Surgical and minimally invasive devices
  • Complex electromechanical systems

Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Concept generation, detailed design, and system architecture development
  • Engineering analysis, prototyping, and technical problem solving
  • Design for manufacture and transfer to production
  • Working within regulated environments (e.g. ISO 13485)
  • Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams (electronics, software, science)
  • Engaging with clients and contributing to technical direction

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in product development within medtech, life science, or a similarly regulated industry
  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical design, analysis, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or similar
  • Understanding of design controls and risk management processes is beneficial
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Location

Cambridge-based, with on-site collaboration expected.
